The role of simulations in the construction of the European Spallation Source

The European Spallation Source which is being built in Lund (Sweden) will be the most intense neutron source in the world, and the use of Monte Carlo simulations has been decisive optimize its performance. The speaker, in its 15 years involvement with the project, will give an overview on how these simulations have been vital to make technical decisions and the involvement of ESS developing tools that are widely used in the community.
