Nano-Ladder made of extended diindeno-naphthalene

The image was obtained by bond-resolved scanning tunneling microscopy, using a functionalized probe with a single CO molecule. This technique allows to determine the exact chemical structure of the compound. Weak-interactions can also be visualized between each molecule, e.g. link between the steps of the ladder.
