The Basque Science Minister visits nanoGUNE

The Minister for Science, Universities, and Innovation of the Basque  Government, Juan Ignacio Perez, and the Deputy Minister for Universities  and Research, Adolfo Morais, have visited CIC nanoGUNE. The  representatives of the new department of the Basque Government met Jose M.  Pitarke and Javier Martinez Ojinaga, Director-General and President of  nanoGUNE respectively, and had the opportunity to get a close look at  the course and projection of the Basque center on nanoscience and  nanotechnology.

During the meeting, nanoGUNE's Director presented the two new research  groups opened in 2024: one dedicated to the field of advanced therapeutic  and diagnostic technologies through the creation of miniaturized solutions  and specialized in gynecology and infertility challenges, and the other  focused on the development of quantum hardware based on semiconductor  technology. With these two lines, nanoGUNE completes its capabilities to  continue as a reference in three strategic areas: quantum nanoscience,  nanomaterials, and nanomedicine. In addition, they were able to review the  expansion plans of the center with the construction of a new tower,  planned for 2025, where quantum hardware will be developed in the  framework of a collaboration with the British scale-up company Quantum  Motion.
