Liquid-Phase Electron Microscopy Research with Economic Impact

Following the recent development of novel flow reactors, the Electron Microscopy group at CIC nanoGUNE has also explored the potential of pressure-driven pumping systems for advanced control of the hydrodynamics during liquid-phase electron microscopy experiments. The results of this industrial collaboration with ELVEFLOW (an ELVESYS brand) and Protochips Inc. have just been published.

The researcher leading the project, Dr. Stefan Merkens, comments: ”By using advanced pressure control systems and our new reactor design, we achieved precise control over the hydrodynamics, allowing us to accurately replicate experimental conditions under the electron microscope. This breakthrough will facilitate new insights into nanoscale processes, which will lead to advances in areas such as electrocatalysis, energy storage, nanoparticle research and life sciences“.
