Microrobotic tools
Medical microrobots are microscopic functional structures, tethered or untethered, designed to perform diagnosis and therapy non-invasively at the same scale as single cells. They are envisioned to operate in physiologically-relevant fluids by taking some inspiration from nature or by directly employing living cells and/or microorganisms in combination with smart materials and structure designs. They should carry out functions such as locomotion, sensing, decision making, micromanipulation, cargo-release, enhanced contrast for bioimaging, among others.
