The global transition to clean energy requires a multifaceted approach that goes beyond a single technology. Our research group combines advanced scientific expertise with dedicated facilities to drive innovation across several strategic domains: green hydrogen, green ammonia, thermal energy storage, and all-solid-state batteries.

Our researchers focus on the development of efficient and sustainable production pathways for green hydrogen, powered by renewable energy sources. In particular, we are exploring the coupled production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, where hydrogen serves as the key feedstock for ammonia synthesis, enabling sustainable fertilizer production and opening opportunities for large-scale energy carriers. Complementing this, our group is actively engaged in the development of all-solid-state batteries, where we design and synthesize innovative inorganic solid electrolytes to overcome current limitations in safety and energy density, pushing the boundaries of next-generation electrochemical storage. In parallel, we are investigating the valorisation of phosphogypsum, an industrial by-product, as a promising thermochemical material for thermal energy storage. This work demonstrates our commitment not only to energy innovation but also to circular economy principles, transforming waste into high-value energy solutions.

Through this integrated portfolio of research, our researchers are positioning themselves at the interface of academia and industry, advancing technologies that address pressing energy challenges while fostering sustainable industrial applications.

About the speaker
