Publication of the 2022 magneto-optics roadmap

Under the editorial leadership of nanoGUNE’s Nanomagnetism group leaders Paolo Vavassori and Andreas Berger, the Journal of Physics D – Applied Physics has now published its 2022 magneto-optics Roadmap. An upcoming Webinar focused on the Roadmap will also explore the latest developments in magneto-optics science and technology next 13 October.

As a collective effort of 38 leading experts from 14 different countries, the 2022 magneto-optics Roadmap, which is an Open Access article, is intended to provide a reference point and guide to the interested community on relevant and emerging research directions in modern magneto-optics. The article consists of 20 sections, each written by experts in the corresponding sub-field and addressing the specific subject on only two pages.

Following the success and relevance of the 2014, 2017 and 2020 Magnetism Roadmap articles, this 2022 magneto-optics Roadmap takes a timely and more focussed look at very relevant areas in magnetism research by specifically exploring the highly active field of magneto-optics. A large group of experts has been selected for this article, representing both the breadth of magneto-optics research, and the desire to incorporate different voices and viewpoints. Despite its two-page layout limit for each subject, the most relevant aspects of every sub-field are briefly described, which enables the Roadmap as whole to give its readers an initial overview of and outlook into a wide variety of topics in a fairly condensed format. Correspondingly, the Roadmap pursues the goal of giving each reader a reference frame of relevant and current topics in modern applied magneto-optics research.

This 2022 magneto-optics Roadmap will also be the exclusive focus of an upcoming Webinar, entitled "Magneto-optics: grand challenges and future directions", organized by IOP Publishing, which will be held on 13.10. at 1PM CEST. Webinar registration is free and details can be found at this link
